Minimum Power Broadcast Trees for Wireless Networks: Integer Programming Formulations
نویسنده
چکیده
Wireless multicast/broadcast sessions, unlike wired networks, inherently reaches several nodes with a single transmission. For omnidirectional wireless broadcast to a node, all nodes closer will also be reached. Heuristic algorithms for constructing the minimum power tree in wireless networks have been proposed by Wieselthier et al. and Stojmenovic et al. Recently, an evolutionary search procedure has been proposed by Marks et al. In this paper, we present three different integer programming models which can be used for an optimal solution of the minimum power broadcast/multicast problem in wireless networks. The models assume complete knowledge of the distance matrix and is therefore most suited for networks where the locations of the nodes are fixed.

A Fast Mixed Integer Programming Formulation for Minimum-Power Broadcasting in Wireless Networks
Broadcasting means the distribution of packets from a certain source to all other hosts. One of the possible efficient implementations of broadcasting is to construct a spanning tree rooted at a given source such that each host can receive a copy of the broadcast packet originating from the source. Since the operations of most hosts in wireless networks mainly rely on battery power, in this pap...
متن کاملMinimum-energy broadcast and multicast in wireless networks: An integer programming approach and improved heuristic algorithms
Both integer programming models and heuristic algorithms have been proposed for finding minimum-energy broadcast and multicast trees in wireless ad hoc networks. Among heuristic algorithms, the broadcast/multicast incremental power (BIP/MIP) algorithm is most known. The theoretical performance of BIP/MIP has been quantified in several studies. To assess the empirical performance of BIP/MIP and ...

Multicast sessions in wireless ad hoc networks require messages to be routed from a source node to a set of recipient nodes. Message forwarding from any intermediate node in the route is a power-consuming operation, and since batteries are the only available energy source, this resource is scarce. In this paper we present and analyze integer programming models for routing multicast or broadcast...
